Field Service Technician
Auburn Hills, MI
$100,000 - $120,000

Travel required up to 50% of the time

Kelly Services has partnered with a global leader of metal forming technology to find a highly skilled and experienced Stamping Press Field Service Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service in the repair, installation, and commissioning of stamping presses. Your technical expertise and knowledge will be crucial in troubleshooting, recommending improvements, and ensuring the efficient operation of our equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Utilize advanced technical skills in the repair, installation, and commissioning of stamping presses, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Collaborate with the head of the customer service division at HQ to provide and support field service activities in the US and Canada.
  • Respond to work orders promptly and ensure timely resolution of service requests.
  • Monitor inventory of required items and submit procurement requests as needed.
  • Coordinate rigging and installation activities with local rigging and service companies.
  • Liaise with customers during equipment installation and repair, providing guidance and best practices for maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform inspections and documentations following standardized work instructions, suggesting improvements as appropriate.
  • Handle emergency correspondence with customers when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper utilization of safety devices, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide support to the team by performing additional tasks as required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of documented related experience in stamping press service and maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Advanced technical training in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and PLCs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel outside the United States as required.
  • Physical ability to perform all required tasks, including working at heights, using manlifts and ladders, and performing roof work.
  • Preferred qualifications include eight (8) years of experience and/or completion of an apprenticeship program.
  • Possession of a Department of Labor (DOL) issued Journeyman's card (Industrial Maintenance Technician or Machine Repair classifications) is strongly preferred. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Ability to obtain Hilo and crane certifications.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Willingness to travel for work and training according to business needs.
  • Ability to work until the job is completed correctly.
