Job Summary

The Security Analyst III is responsible for information security policy development and maintenance; security policy education, training, and awareness activities. Monitor compliance with L.A. Care Information Security policy and applicable laws as well as coordinate investigation and reporting of security incidents. Working with the information technology (I.T.) systems support teams, the incumbent will perform network penetration tests, application vulnerability assessment scans and risk assessment reviews.


This position is responsible for information security policy updates, education, training, and awareness activities.

Monitor and advice on information security issues to ensure the internal security controls for the organization are appropriate and operating as intended. 


Collaborate with I.T. systems support teams to monitor potential threats and participate in business continuity planning. 


Conduct investigations and report on security incidents, as directed by the Information Security Officer. 


Conduct security research in keeping abreast of latest security issues. 


Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or Related Field In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered. Education Preferred Experience

At least 5-7 years of experience in computing and information security, including experience with Internet technology security issues. 


Experience should include security policy development, security education, network penetration testing, application vulnerability assessments, risk analysis and compliance testing.


Experience with security tools such IPS, SIEM, Web Secure Gateway, Email Gateway, DLP, Firewalls (network and application), Malware Protection, MDM, Forensic Tools, etc. 


Experience in Healthcare security environment is a plus.


Performs procedures necessary to ensure the security of information systems assets and to protect them from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction in accordance with company policies and external requirements such as NIST, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), DHCS, OIG and other relevant regulatory requirements.
