Description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Radiology, is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Interventional Radiologist to join our team.

The Division of Interventional Radiology is a section of the Department of Radiology at Loma Linda University, providing a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions covering the full range of clinical conditions and patient ages. This robust practice provides care through the full spectrum of interventional radiology service lines, including vascular disease through a collaborative relationship with vascular surgery.

Currently staffed by 9 board-certified IRs, this division provides care at six hospitals, including two level 1 trauma centers, a dedicated pediatric hospital and a thriving community hospital, a surgical center providing both ambulatory and short-term inpatient surgical care, and East Campus for longer term admissions. The main facility, Loma Linda University Medical Center, is a state-of-the-art hospital opened in 2021, is currently ranked the number one hospital in the Inland Empire. Positioned in the foothills of beautiful Loma Linda, California, our division is a tertiary referral center for all nearby hospitals, providing care in the most complex and challenging patients and conditions.

As part of Loma Linda University, this academic IR practice provides education to the 10 DR and IR/DR residents per year, numerous medical students on clinical and sub-internship rotations, pre-clinical and pre-medical students desiring shadowing experiences and mentorship, and many more. Loma Linda has a long history of training outstanding interventional radiologists for over 50 years through its fellowship program and now its integrated IR/DR and independent IR residencies.

IR at Loma Linda is a fully clinical practice, with all inpatient procedures requiring formal consultation of the IR service, and all outpatient requests being triaged for consideration of either in-person or virtual clinic prior to scheduling their possible procedure. Each day begins with a morning conference at 7:45 am, where the procedures scheduled for the day are presented by the residents and the indications and approaches are discussed with the attendings on duty that day. Procedural working hours are typically 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with the on-call faculty staying to finish the remaining procedures (if any). Call is taken one day at a time, and is currently every 8th night and every 8th weekend. IR faculty are generally provided one academic day each week. Salary is competitive for academic practices in the region, and some internal moonlighting opportunities are available.

Department of Radiology:
At Loma Linda University we strive to provide, to both physicians and patients, the highest quality radiological medical services available, ensuring that these services are provided with reasonable efficiency; to foster the continuation of quality care by the education of the physicians, patients and the community at large. We continually strive to improve the quality and efficiency of this health care service through dedicated medical research.

Our mission is to implement these goals of premium medical services, education, and research by the effective use of our professional staff and the competent and efficient handling of the technical equipment under the group's supervision.

Among the many investments made by the Department of Radiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center--in modern technology, medical expertise, and highly skilled technologists--the most important investments are those we place in people: the individuals we serve and who serve with us. Through them, we invest in the future.

The department's primary concern is for the quality of care we provide our patients. The sections within the Department of Radiology are uniquely dedicated to this goal. Each section is staffed by fully certified physicians, specialists, and subspecialists, as well as by physicists, technologists, and support personnel. Both our diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology staff make patient care their highest priority.

In addition, the Department of Radiology offers accredited residency training programs in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology (IR/DR). Over 415,000 radiologic examinations a year are performed. The radiology group is exceptionally cohesive and enjoys excellent relationships with referring specialty practice groups within the university system.
