Senior Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence

Overview
• Mastercard is committed to balancing innovation while ensuring legal compliance and has embraced Responsible AI, Privacy and Data Protection as core to the successful execution of its business strategy. As part of that commitment, Mastercard has established a world-class AI Compliance and Privacy program and is currently adding talent to its global team.

• The Senior Counsel - Privacy & Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence will have an instrumental role in the development of Mastercard's AI Compliance program. The position will report to the Senior Managing Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence and will be a member of the Global Privacy & Data Protection team.

• The Senior Counsel must be abreast of Artificial Intelligence technology and familiar with key legal and technical fundamental rights considerations pertaining to Artificial Intelligence. Ability to understand complex product constructs, and to develop creative legal solutions is key.

Core responsibilities
* Work with business stakeholders to identify business requirements, streamline AI assessments, policies and processes for compliance with EU AI Act.
* Provide AI legal and privacy expertise to key initiatives furthering Mastercard AI Governance.
* Work with business stakeholders to implement legal, technical, operational and administrative requirements for Mastercard's AI solutions and uses stemming from AI evolving regulations globally.
*Develop and review contract terms for AI use cases with respect to customer and vendor contracts.
* Develop and review documentation on Mastercard's Responsible AI.
* Monitor regulatory guidance on EU AI Act and regulatory enforcement in EU to assess evolving impact on Mastercard AI Compliance Program.
* Collaborate with Public Policy and Advocacy on engagement efforts on AI evolving regulatory and policy initiatives.
*Serve as the first point of contact on business questions with respect to the EU AI Act.

All About You
• Law degree required. Membership to a Bar (if permitted by law). Any additional qualifications (e.g. Master of Laws degree, AI or privacy certifications) considered an asset
• Solid expertise in the EU AI Act and track record dealing with Artificial Intelligence projects, products or solutions.
• Good understanding of AI technologies, incl. Generative AI and fundamental rights considerations.
• Ability to design and implement process improvement and innovation.
• Experience in drafting and negotiation of AI and data-driven contract requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with various types of stakeholders (business, lawyers, third parties such as customers and vendors).
• Superior time management, planning, and organizational skills.
• Strong analytic capabilities, and written and oral communication skills.
• Creativity and "can-do" attitude is a must.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering.
• Must work well in both team and individual settings.
• Ability to motivate and influence highly skilled professionals to achieve major organizational goals.
