Title and Summary

Senior Data Scientist, Test and Learn Overview

The Services team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing cutting-edge products and services that help our customers. Focused on thinking big and scaling quickly around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions for a diverse global customer base including issuers, acquirers, and merchants. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include payments-focused consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, business experimentation (Test & Learn), and data-driven information and risk management services.

Test & Learn

As a member of the Test & Learn team, you will pioneer industry-leading experimentation software which brings sophisticated analytic techniques to businesses and users around the world. We are rapidly building new products, improving existing products, and expanding the ways we deliver Test & Learn to our clients. We are looking for innovators who can execute and evolve our analytic strategy, tackling the big challenges of the future. This role will focus on analytic research; pushing the boundaries for our analytics by finding ways to apply new data science methods to top business challenges and translating it into novel products, and scalable commercial solutions.

Position Responsibilities

- Drive the research of new functionality within an analytics platform used by the world's largest organizations to make critical, multi-million-dollar decisions.
- Work cross-functionally with product management to understand and solve customer needs requiring novel analytic solutions.
- Work hand-in-hand with engineering teams to help guide the implementation of your analytic ideas into our products.
- Collaborate with leaders across the business unit to identify problems and drive innovative solutions.

All About You

- 5+ years' experience in data science OR equivalent graduate coursework.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand complex technical concepts, coupled with strong business acumen to identify applications of technology to solve commercial questions.
- Experience applying innovative analytics to high volume datasets to influence business decisions.
- Strong knowledge and experience with R, Python, and SQL.
- Deep understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, ensemble methods, and deep learning.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Databricks, Hadoop, or other big data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, Keras, or other machine learning libraries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Exceptional project management and problem-solving ability, with a focus on setting ambitious and achievable goals, managing timelines across multiple workstreams, and prioritizing risk/benefit tradeoffs.
- Enthusiastic about opportunities to collaborate with and mentor teammates to foster a supportive and growth-oriented team culture.
- Degree(s) in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or similar area preferred
