General Summary of Position
The Assistant Vice President Revenue Cycle is responsible for directing and administering the programs and activities of the admission, registration, and financial counseling services. The position plans, organizes, and provides leadership to management for daily operational responsibility. The AVP is part of the leadership team responsible for $8 billion dollars in revenue billing and collections for system-wide patient access.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as Compliance Director for the revenue cycle and effective patient access into ambulatory, clinic operations, and hospitals across the entire MedStar Health system.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communications with internal management and staff as well as external customers and executive management.
  • Interacts with the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) identifying revenue cycle opportunities and developing and implementing process improvement.
  • Maintains relationships with key stakeholders within each business unit, reviewing monthly performance as it relates to revenue cycle processing to include access management.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of daily operations to the patient access services area for all of the MedStar Health business units.
  • Provides leadership to implementation teams for major revenue cycle projects. Participates on other committees as requested.
  • Responsible for $8 billion dollars annually in revenue billing and collections. Maintains registration and admission performance goals for the MedStar Health hospitals.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting and analysis of revenue cycle performance.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures. Continually reviews and modifies systems and data collections for maximum cash reimbursement.
  • Reviews and makes monthly recommendations for adjustments to the bad debt and contractual allowance reserves on behalf of CRO and CFOs

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field required

    Experience

    • 10+ years financial management experience in hospital accounts receivable setting with a primary emphasis in third party payer requirements, HSCRC requirements and PPS regulations required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • CPAM Certified Patient Account Manager upon hire preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Detailed working knowledge of HSCRC requirements and PPS regulations.
    • Basic computer skills
