We seek a physician-educator to serve a population of high-need elders in Baltimore, MD.
Core duties include 90% clinical time and 10% academic time.  Clinical settings include:  

  1. Home-Based Primary Care: The physician will manage a panel of complex elders at home with a superb team of Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, RN, and office staff. 
  2. Hospital Geriatrics at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital (MGSH).  This includes inpatient consults for our house call patients and also for surgeons and other colleagues. 
The MedStar House Call Program is one of the leading house call programs in the U.S.   We employ a highly dedicated team to meet the needs of underserved elders and their families in Baltimore.  We bring the best of care to the home, offering tailored treatment plans that consider the home environment and abilities of family caregivers.  You will have many opportunities to improve systems of care within the hospital for older adults including guiding the implementation of a new Acute Care for the Elderly (A.C.E.) care program at MedStar Good Samaritan.

The balance of clinical duties for the physician can be flexible based on program needs and the candidate's interest.  Our physicians rotate for after-hours phone on-call every 4-5 weeks and have weekends off from in-person duties to support work-life balance.  We are also open to discussing the option of a part-time position.  Qualifications:
  • EDUCATION/TRAINING
    • Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) and completion of residency in Internal Medicine  
    • Geriatrics Fellowship training preferred, OR equivalent professional experience
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:         
    • Board-Certified in Internal Medicine at start of employment
    • Board-Certified in Geriatrics within 1 year of employment start (if fellowship-trained)
    • Eligible for appointment to Active Staff of MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and for licensure to practice medicine in Maryland
  • SKILLS:
    • Strong personal, clinical, and teaching skills for teamwork and care of frail elders
    • The physician will perform procedures as required for the specialty
