Pulmonary Sleep Medicine Advanced Practice Provider - MedStar Good Samaritan & Harbor Hospitals   Our advanced practice providers work collaboratively with physicians to provide integrated, high-quality care at all locations. As one of the largest medical groups in the country, MedStar Health APPs work with medical, surgical, and specialty providers to provide patient-centered care.  We currently have a need for a Pulmonary Sleep Medicine APP.     You will be working with a team of 6 Physicians and 3 APPS in this role. Experience managing chest tubes and non-invasive ventilation a plus.  You will work in an outpatient setting seeing sleep and pulmonary follow up patients.  Additionally, you will be as seeing inpatients to evaluate new patients in collaboration with the consulting Pulmonologist to establish a plan of care.
Essential job duties include:

  • Providing emergent and urgent care to patients in critical condition.
  • Performing histories and physical examinations of patients.
  • Establishing appropriate medical diagnoses based on patient history, chart review, physical exam, lab testing, and radiographic imaging.
  • Recommending, initiating, and managing appropriate therapeutic interventions for various pathologies, including respiratory failure, heart failure, shock, and acid-base disturbances
  • Collaborating with all involved care teams, including other consultants.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as removal of chest tubes and intrapleural thrombolytics 
  • Performing bedside procedures, including insertion of central venous, and arterial catheters, as well as chest tubes and thoracentesis.
  • Communicating between healthcare professionals to promote safe patient transition between shifts, services, and/or levels of care.

     

Schedule:  
  • Monday- Friday schedule
  • No weekends, evenings or major holiday
  • Day Shift only
  Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program.
  • NCCPA (physician assistant) or AGACNP (nurse practitioner) certification.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • One year of critical care experience or in-patient hospital medicine is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in advanced procedures. New graduates will be considered.
