General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Regional Mental Health Coach to join our team!  

As a Regional Mental Health Coach, you will be responsible for onsite and virtual mental health coaching for front-line staff at assigned Regional Hospitals. Provides availability for one on one and group interactions to promote resilience in dealing with stress, burnout, trauma, and fatigue. Serves to promote engagement, morale, positive communications, and increased effectiveness through training on stress management and supportive prevention strategies. The position is responsible for establishing, tracking, and reporting metrics specific to these activities. The position is responsible for integrating well-being activities within the framework of the MedStar Health system Wellness Program and reports to the Center for Wellbeing Clinical Director.

Primary Duties: 

  • Interacts with the front-line staff of assigned hospitals on a routine schedule to promote and provide mental health coaching services. Offers to coach individuals and groups to support wellbeing in both personal and professional settings.  

  • Teaches stress management and burnout prevention strategies to help optimize positive habits that support health and wellbeing. Integrates with the system wellbeing steering committee and has an interface with the behavioral health service line. 

  • Acts as a liaison to EAP provider. Supports increased effectiveness by facilitating conversations that lead to greater awareness and action. 

  • Guides recipients to access crisis support and/or mental health services as appropriate. Ensures coordination, synergy, and integration with system-wide associate wellness activities supported through the wellbeing initiative. 

  • Reports data related to activity and outcomes to the system wellbeing lead. Revises offerings based on analysis and feedback. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Master's degree in Mental Health or related field. 

  • Experience with workplace wellbeing interventions, employee assistance programs (EAP) work, and/or interventions for occupational stress. 

  • Current license appropriate to clinical discipline.
