General Summary of Position
Responsible for the coordination of care for patients in the Structural Heart program.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a face paced environment requiring the ability to prioritize multitask and prioritize the needs of the patients and the program.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Coordinates the procurement of the valves for the operating room and catheter lab and monitors the procedure in the operating room.
  • Explains the risks, benefits, and alternative options for the procedures to the patient and their family. Works with the physician in obtaining operative and procedural consent.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for managing the clinical care related to patients access to the Structural Heart program. This includes but is not limited to collecting and analyzing diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and radiological exams as well as scheduling procedures and follow-up for patients undergoing percutaneous mitral and aortic valves, PFO, ASD and left atrial appendage procedures.
  • Responsible for navigating the patient during all phases of their care to optimize patient outcomes. Maintains efficient organizational management of the patient; including but not limited to timeliness in scheduling and arranging preoperative and postoperative care as well as being responsive to the needs of the patient and healthcare team. Detail oriented in the overall management of the patient.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting the power point preprocedure


     

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required and
    • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field preferred

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Work experience in a clinical setting. experience with reading and interpreting clinical data. required and
    • 1-2 years 2 years of experience in clinical research; previous experience in cardiology preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Valid RN license in the State of Maryland. Upon Hire required and
    • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient with computers (Word, Excel and Power Point) and able to navigate data bases and the EHR.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
