Job Summary: 

 
MedStar Health has an opportunity for a Transplant Donor Liaison to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. As a Transplant Donor Liaison, you will be responsible for serving as a key contact, advocate, and concierge for all living donors in the transplant department. In addition you will be responsible for functioning as the liaison between the surgeons, clinical staff, in-patient units, and operating room for the donor.  

 
Primary Duties: 

  • Functions as the representative and liaison for the living donor program, serves as the key contact for the donor and ensures optimum service through the donation process. 

  • Participates in the scheduling process and organization of the donor candidate during the pre- evaluation and post-transplant process, maintains on-going communication with the donor post-transplant and ensures proper follow-up. 

  • Greets and escorts the donor to the OR on the day of surgery, navigates hospital services to ensure smooth completion of donor evaluation. 

  • Visits the donor after transplant and delivers a care package, provides discharge assistance on the in-patient unit with follow up appointments, contacting family members, assist in the transition of all transplant donors and HPB patients with outpatient clinic scheduling, and working with coordinator/mid-level provider. 

  • Manages the off-site housing apartments for donors and transplant recipients to include; booking, managing cleaning service, and ensuring cleanliness. Works with transplant team in identifying donor assistance resources such as travel, and access to the National Donor Assistance Program. 

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures; attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. 

  • Exemplifies C2C standards in all activities. 

  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and is not to be considered as all-inclusive. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Heath Care Administration or a related field required 

  • On-the-Job Training or experience in transplantation, preferably with a living donor program preferred 

  • 1-2 years' experience in a medical/hospital setting Required 

  • Less than 1 year experience with transplantation and direct patient care preferred
