Overview:

 

Position supports Mercy Hospital Springfield Medical Staff by coordinating the following: medical staff file review and approval, provider orientation, Focus Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) activities, reappointment applications, communication and notification regarding delinquent medical records and expireables, completion of affiliation verifications, and working with the Ministry as needed on bylaw updates and revisions.

Supports the Medical Staff as a resource regarding bylaws, policy and procedure for the PEAT, PPEC, Medical Record Committee and Mercy Rehab Hospital Medical Executive Committee. Develops the medical staff board report to the Board of Directors and Board Sub-Committee.

Researches and develops department documents. Maintains current knowledge regarding CMS, State and The Joint Commission standards and requirements.

Collaborates with other hospital based departments to assist in creating agendas, recording minutes and coordinating projects with hospital leadership and other departments.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Licensure: None required
  • Experience: Project management in business or health related field preferred.
  • Microsoft Office and Cactus Software knowledge desired.
  • Other: Skills, knowledge and abilities: Must be computer literate.
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Effective project management to include problem solving and group facilitation skills.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi task and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare services and regulatory standards beneficial.
  • Working conditions, mental and physical requirements.
  • Equipment used: Computer, copier (general office equipment).
  • Preferred Education: (Business Administration or related health or management field).
  • Certification: Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or a Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).
  • Preferred Experience: Medical Staff Services and/or credentialing
