Overview:

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for professional nursing care for patients and their families by direction, supervision and example. Provides direction to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, students and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. Responsible for operation of the unit on a shift by shift basis ensuring that all regulatory requirements and standards are being fulfilled. Participates in the education and development of Med Surg personnel and performance evaluation as well as other administrative duties as designated by the Director of the unit. 

 

The Medical Surgical unit, also known as Med-Surg, is a specialty unit that makes up the foundation of nursing. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Rogers is a 48 bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs.  Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. This can include care of patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis; as well as pre and post op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure.

 

The Med-Surg unit also manages chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and chronic kidney disease.  Service lines include oncology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, and many more.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum three years of direct patient care 
  • Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
  • Preferred Education: BSN
  • License: current RN license in our state
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
