Overview:

 

THIS ROLE IS HYRBRID-Remote and Onsite

 

This position leads, plans, and coordinates a compliant Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) program. Partners with providers, Coding, Revenue Cycle leadership, and other departments to improve performance of CDI program, data quality, compliance, and reimbursement. Continuously assesses program through audits, reports, and feedback to re-evaluate processes to assist in meeting system goals and keep team members engaged. Monitors and reports key performance metrics (KPIs). Develops and implements documentation integrity communication and education plans through interaction with providers, nursing, Coding, and other health care team members. Develops policies and procedures to support CDI workflow and guidelines. Evaluates tools and systems to maximize workflows and to ensure integrity of program and report data.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Education: RN, BSN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CIC, CCDS, or CDIP
  • Experience:3 years CDI experience and 2 years in UM, nursing, coding or HIM including lead responsibility
  • Other Skills and Knowledge:
    • Organized and possesses leadership skills   
    • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly make decisive decisions from limited written and/or oral information, excellent reading comprehension
    • Extensive knowledge of disease processes and clinical outcomes
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to express oneself, and comfortable speaking in groups.
    • Ability to plan and organize workflow to meet deadlines
    • Ability to produce reports using multi-formats and software, i.e., Word, Excel
    • Ability to present education and data findings to team members, leadership and medical staff committees as needed
    • Ability to establish cooperative working relationship with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff and other health care disciplines and interact with all levels of employees
    • Ability to work flexible work schedules to accommodate provider rounding schedules and required medical staff presentations
    • Organizational and administrative skills
    • Encourage and assist with team building
    • Ability to resolve conflict
    • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, both patient and employee
    • Evaluate and create educational presentation materials
    • Ability to present education and data to individuals and groups
    • Strong clinical knowledge
    • Experience with computer programs (EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to interpret various data reports
    • Ability to review and edit time sheets in Kronos
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:BS degree in a related field and 3-5 CDI experience, must qualify for CDI Specialist and possess advanced leadership skills
  • Certification/Registration: CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) from ACDIS or CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner) from AHIMA
