Overview:

Provides therapy for patients and families to enhance their psychosocial functioning. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with mission, values and mercy service standards. 

The therapist is responsible for providing outpatient counseling services to clients and their families of which includes mental health assessments, treatment planning, and counseling intervention services, as well as continually monitoring and documenting patient progress and outcomes in an out patient clinic.    Provides services to patients in outpatient setting utilizing clinically approved modalities, including but not limited to the use of Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Behavioral therapy (CBT), Solution focused, Brief solution, and focused therapies, EMDR, Cognitive processing therapy, and Acceptance and commitment therapy. 

In addition, follows confidentiality policy with regard to patient information spoken, written or exchanged with others.  Serves as an advocate for the patient to the treatment Team to include prescribing physicians and other community resources as needed as to best support their mental health needs.  The Therapist may participate in QI activities that identify ways to improve patient care.  Is knowledgeable of community resources and utilizes resources wisely, and may have opportunities to participate in community groups/projects dedicated to the improvement of behavioral health services within the community.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years Behavioral Health experience preferred
  • Required Education: Master's degree required in Social Work, Counseling or other human-service related field
  • Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required
  • Other: Co-worker must be able to communicate orally, in writing and demonstrate proficient computer skills. Co-worker must be able to listen and to understand and explain complex situations.
