Job Description:

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize engineering principles in mechanical, thermal, and materials to provide solutions for electric motors, electronics, and high-power conversion packaging
  • Work with a cross-functional development team to relay design and engineering intent and requirements
  • Participate in new product and technology development and proactively guide design directions to meet product performance requirements.
  • Interpret analysis results, provide physical explanations, and drive product solutions.
  • Design and build prototype components and assemblies. Perform the tests, collect and analyze test data, and prepare reports explaining the results
  • Develop structural, thermal, and environmental tests to validate your designs
  • Model heat transfer, structural and electromechanical aspects of our products and perform Finite Element Analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 15 years of experience packaging power electronic components. PhD is preferred.
  • A proven track record of designing and fabricating advanced high-power electronic modules and converter packaging
  • A proven track record of designing the electric motor
  • Manufacturing experience related to power module and converter assembly
  • Exceptional SolidWorks CAD skills and mechanical design tools. Create and manage SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, and assemblies
  • Proficiency in static/dynamic structural, modal, and thermal analysis using hand calculations as well as FEA software.
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics. Familiarity with high-temperature packaging
  • Familiarity with governing standards and specifications related to electronic components and sub-systems
  • Take a hands-on approach whether it be building a prototype or performing testing.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and are able to manage the workload of multiple projects
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts, ideas, and knowledge to other team members, including mentoring junior members of the team
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Enjoy working on projects with diverse teams under tight timelines.
  • Are proficient in 3D CAD, 2D detailed drawings.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Are passionate about renewable energy
  • Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
