Job Description:

The Structural Engineer will be based in Hyderabad. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager – Structural Engineering and will contribute towards the Structural and Mechanical design of Nextracker's tracking solutions. Candidate will develop analysis models, loading calculations, perform FEA and assist testing of components in testing facility to meet ensure minimum product standard before release to product application. The candidate is also expected to have reasonable programming knowledge for automating calculations and will work

closely with Mechanical engineering team to consolidate design efforts. Watch this video to learn why Nextracker is more than just a place to work.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:

  • Contribute to the design and development of the next generations of Nextracker horizontal tracking products.
  • Perform tracker component design and analyze structural behavior.
  • Estimate loading conditions - Dead load, Live load, Wind load, snow load and Earthquake load.
  • Perform Wind speed calculation for structures using IS 875 & ASCE 7-10
  • Design the structures and components for wind and seismic forces (Both Static and dynamic)
  • Perform product failure mode analysis from testing and reverse engineering.
  • Perform connection design Bolted, welded, riveted as per IS800, IS875, ASCE, ACI and AISI.
  • Assist material testing and reliability analysis of steel products.
  • Work on developing and establishing standard excel tools for quick reference to bids and sales.
  • Perform and manage engineering work using CAD/CAE software to solve problems in mechanical/structural design, finite element analysis, design optimization, fatigue analysis, structural dynamics and kinematics, vibrations, thermal analysis and plastic part design.
  • Write proposals, technical reports and papers.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the mechanical engineering team to identify concepts and designs for future products.
  • Develop and maintain best practices to foster the creative process.
  • Assist product designer from structural support to design mechanical components, execute prototyping, and manage design iterations.
  • Implement continuous improvement to maximize efficiency in the design process.
  • Partner with the Manufacturing Engineer on design for manufacturability to address questions and issues.
  • Strong understanding for DFM of castings and sheet metal stamping

Here is some of what you'll need (required)

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering with excellent academic record
  • Minimum 1 year experience of relevant experience in Structural design.
  • Toolsets required: Structural software Staad Pro, Solid works, RISA, ETABS, Ansys Etc.
  • Sound Knowledge in Structural dynamic analysis and design
  • Experience in Member design (Columns/Beams/Plates/Girders) and connection details IS800, IS875, ASCE, ACI and AISI.
  • Good understanding of mechanical load testing requirement.
  • Strong aptitude and intuition in mechanical failure analysis
  • Practical knowledge of prototyping manufacturing process
  • Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working with structural steel and sheet-metal/cold-formed sections.
  • Experience in wind engineering and wind testing
  • Experience in programming languages like Python and MATLAB.
  • Experience in Open Sees environment is a big plus.
