OCHSNER HEALTH is seeking a fellowship-trained DEVELOPMENTAL-BEHAVIORAL PEDIATRICIAN to practice at the Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development in New Orleans, LA. In addition to robust clinical skills across the spectrum of developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning and intellectual disabilities, and cerebral palsy, the ideal candidate will be able to work in a collaborative manner with other health professionals and assist with program development. Salary offered will be competitive and commensurate with experience and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide developmental medical care to children, adolescents, and their families within a growing child development center, the only of its kind providing developmental pediatric care to a wide-spanning geography across Louisiana and Mississippi

  • Complete medical and neurodevelopmental evaluations for children with developmental-behavioral concerns, including children under the age of 5 years

  • Recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions and early intervention/special education services and help families navigate how to access additional services as indicated, including keeping abreast of resources within and outside of Ochsner specifically for children with developmental delays to facilitate referrals effectively

  • Provide both independent and interdisciplinary team developmental medicine evaluations with other clinic staff of all levels and disciplines, including psychologists, behavior analysts, medical social workers, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, pediatric physical medicine & rehabilitation physicians, child psychiatrists, and pediatric orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons

  • Work with the entire Boh Center team to innovate ways to address gaps in service, unmet treatment needs, and innovative strategies to enhance the development of programs that best serve our patients

  • Remain well-informed of research around best practices in child developmental assessment and treatment and participate with regional and/or national workgroups/professional organizations focused on child development

  • Participate in monthly section and department meetings, and participate in UME and GME education activities as well as additional education such as Pediatrics Grand Rounds

Our comprehensive Pediatrics Program including primary care pediatricians and pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists (Ochsner Children's™) represents over 230 physicians. The group is the region's leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric complex specialty services including congenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation, liver and bone marrow transplantation, a comprehensive surgical sub-specialty group, and the region's only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental center.

We recently announced the building of a new separate, comprehensive, dedicated Children's Hospital on our main campus, with expected opening in 2027.

We currently care for patients in an expanding 67-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, and full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams.

In addition to patient care, Ochsner Children's Hospital has an ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program and is responsible for teaching pediatric residents from the Tulane-Ochsner Pediatric Residency program as well as medical students from both Tulane and the University of Queensland. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana recently announced an agreement to establish a joint College of Medicine.
