SALARY: $15.00 Hourly OPEN TO ONEIDA ENROLLED TRIBAL MEMBERS ONLY

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK:32 HOURS PER WEEK

INTERN DUTIES/PROJECTS

  1. Learn to maintain library collection, books videos, and audios.
  2. Learn to process materials.
  3. Assist library clientele with reference needs using electronic databases, locate materials.
  4. Learn to use software and library equipment such as Internet, computers, camera, etc.
  5. Assist staff with maintaining a professional library environment including book displays, bulletin board, decorations and light housekeeping.
  6. Contribute to a team effort.
  7. Learn to record and maintain statistical data of library materials and clientele operating procedures, and area and program strategic plans and policies.
  8. Maintain strict department security, confidentiality and quality to meet professional standards of the department.
  9. Practice excellent customer service skills at all times to include, but not limited to, addressing customer and employee needs courteously and promptly.

  INTERN SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/COLLEGE MAJOR
  1. Major in Library Studies, Education, Early Childhood, First Nation Studies, Communications, English, or Information Technology.    

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  1. Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, push/pull; use hands and arms, talk and hear; lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.  Occasionally balance, lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds.
  2. Work is generally performed in a library setting with a moderate noise level.
  3. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability and willingness to continue training from the Outagamie/Waupaca Library Automated System and the Nicolet Federated Library System.
  2. Ability and willingness to complete training in library sciences which include, but not limited to, Reference, Information Services, Bibliographic Control of Materials and Basic Cataloging.
  3. Ability to work successfully with children, teens, young adults, and elders.
  4. Ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for the Library clientele.
  5. Ability to develop and maintain effective, working relationships with a variety of age groups and personalities in a complex, multi- cultural environment.
  6. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed/requested.
  7. Complete Oneida Certification on Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect within ninety (90) days of employment.
  8. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters. (Must sign a confidentiality statement prior to employment.)
  9. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must adhere to the Nation's Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  10. Must pass a background security check with the Oneida Nation in order to meet the Employment Eligibility Requirements, Tribal/State Compact and/or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance as they pertain to the position. A temporary license or Gaming License issued by the Oneida Gaming Commission is required as a condition of employment and continuing employment within the Oneida Nation's Gaming Division.
