Director, Special Projects Construction
We are currently looking for someone to join our team as Director of Special Projects for the bakery-café remodel program and development team. This person will oversee and manage the delivery of café project completions including exterior and internal re-imaging programs (remodels), initiative testing programs, and aid in inventory management.
This position will be based out of the Laumeier Support Center, located in St. Louis, MO.
Oversee the execution of the remodel processes in support of multi-unit café remodels and renovations including but not limited to permitting, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and communication with external parties and internal departments of Panera.
Manage cost, risk assessment and forecasting for multimillion-dollar bakery-café remodel projects throughout each project lifecycle.
Build cross-departmental working teams to provide support to facilities and new café construction.
Develop, review, and manage project budget forecasting tools for use by construction, design, and real estate personnel, based on regional and national construction trends.
Manage team of direct reports and oversee team meetings including project review, monthly project forecast reviews, and departmental goals.
Manage all phases of operational plans, changes, and delivery of project turnovers to our operational partners.
Drive a customer service mindset within the café construction team, as evidenced by tremendous discipline around processes including project start and change notifications, general contractor compliance verification, and timely and quality turnover to operations team.
Assist development teams in reducing timelines and project durations from pre-1st pass through final review to increase team productivity. Create project close-out processes and share project learnings across entire development team.
Manage documentation in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring Panera's ability to apply for LL allowances and credits.
7+ years supervisorial experience working in a construction or development job-related field such as construction project management, construction, work for a general contractor, or sub-contractor, or similar fields.
Previous experience in remodeling multi-unit, multimillion-dollar restaurants is preferred. Experience in remodeling multi-unit retail locations is required.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project or other scheduling and project management software.
Experience leading a team, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
BS or BA in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
Strong work ethic, high degree of professionalism with the ability to work with little supervision, handle multiple tasks in an organized manner, produce quality work and meet strict deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communications skills, highly organized, detailed oriented, ability to be self-starter, work independently and in a team environment.
At least 50% travel is expected to project sites, vendor meetings, etc.
