Description

The Instructional Designer is responsible for driving Paycom product usage and adoption, as well as employee performance and business results through designing and developing multimodal instructional materials used for Paycom internal and client training.  Their areas of focus include Paycom's client training program and internal company- or department-wide instructional initiatives. This individual will partner with project stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and department leadership and colleagues in researching, planning and producing written and visual content.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop learning content in accordance with business objectives and needs
  • Write and produce training materials, such as guides, video scripts, screen recordings and more, using a variety of content creation software
  • Design e-learning content that is usable and easily understood by various audiences – clients and their employees, new hires, leaders, etc.
  • Build e-learning content while maintaining the defined workflow
  • Interface with stakeholders involved in the content development process
  • Analyze data trends and business needs to determine gaps and opportunities for future content
  • Maintain Paycom's standard of quality across all learning content
  • Manage project documentation and report progress according to team project management standards
  • Revise content as needed to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance as well as alignment with product or process updates
  • Use Paycom's LMS product to upload and deploy material and provide recommendations for improvements to the LMS product and course deployment methods
  • Learn and gain subject matter expertise including updates in new products, etc.


Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Education or art-related preferred

Experience:

  • Experience in training, technical and/or creative writing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Experience in instructional design/teaching/training
  • Use of e-learning authoring tools: Articulate 360 - Storyline and Rise, Adobe Captivate or other
  • Use of video editing software: Camtasia, Adobe - Premiere and After Effects
  • Use of design editing software: Adobe - InDesign and Illustrator

Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic Project management skills
  • Superior command of the English language, including rules and usage; AP Style preferred
  • Advanced communication and editing skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong research skills, including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources (subject matter experts, project managers) to develop content, training materials and manuals
  • Proven ability to generate creative, unique and relevant content
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with aggressive deadlines
