We are seeking compassionate and professional nurses to join the medical unit of choice in Southeastern Wisconsin. Consisting of 53 beds, the employees of 5MEDICAL serve a diverse population of patients such as those with respiratory diseases, infectious processes, complications of chronic conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, renal failure, diabetes, alcohol/opiate withdrawal and patients that require medical evaluation before transitioning to other care environments. Our patient management may include telemetry monitoring, continuous medication infusions, wounds, ventilators, tracheostomies, varieties of tubes and drains. 5MEDICAL is focused on the needs of the patient and helping one another to meet those needs. The Certified Nursing Assistant on the Medical Unit provides basic patient care working under the direction of the registered nurse per the ANA standards.
The primary responsibilities of the C.N.A. in this role include:
•Communicate changes in patient situations/conditions that would require notification to the RN. This Performs efficient and effective patient bedside handoffs at shift change using SBAR communication methodologies to communicate patient care activities.
•Assists with patient activities as delegated by the RN including activities of daily living (i.e. dressing, ambulating, toileting, eating, grooming, oral care and bathing.)
•Follows wound and skin care protocols to prevent skin breakdown and development of pressure ulcers. Observes and reports the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to the RN and assists in carrying out plans to decrease pressure and skin breakdowns such as frequent repositioning. *CA #LI-TG
•High School Diploma or GED preferred
•Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (BLS CPR) required
•Active/expired Certified Nursing Assistant on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry
•Prior experience as a C.N.A. is preferred
