This position performs all tasks related to patient scheduling and pre-registration of outpatients in an efficient, accurate and hospitable manner to ensure that patient, physician and hospital needs are met.  Job duties include:  Insurance authorization, chart preparation, faxing, filing, and managing the phones.  Engages in performance improvement activities as needed and serves as a communication facilitator for area of responsibility.


Required Skills

Physical Therapy & Perinatal Center- Whittier:

  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully
  • Good English spelling skills
  • Good English reading and comprehension skills
  • Ability to follow directions as outlined in policies or given by Supervisor
  • Computer Skills / Typing 45 wpm minimum

Required Experience

Required:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience of customer service or related field
  • Knowledge of Insurance and Authorization process
  • High school graduate required or equivalent, evidence of continuing education preferred
  • Medical terminology or demonstrated proficiency within six months of hire date (via a course or self -guided study program
  • Telephone experience with good phone etiquette

Preferred:

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish / Chinese preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a doctor's office scheduling patients or hospital registration / admitting
