Position Summary
PMA seeks project controls specialists to provide cost and schedule support services on capital construction projects around Los Angeles County related to infrastructure projects for roadways, bridges, airports, dams, channels, pump stations, and waterworks and sewers projects. In this role, the successful candidate will:

    • Assist project managers in maintaining project schedules, total project cost estimates, and status reports.
    • Monitor project schedule progress, actual expenditures vs. budget, and identify developing problem areas.
    • Monitor effective cost control and budget management practices.
    • Assist project managers in developing and reviewing baseline schedules, monthly schedules, as-built schedules, and time impact analysis.
    • Assist project managers in updating and monitoring project information into project management controls systems and project information websites.
    • Assist project managers with preparing cost reports and performing related tracking.
    • Assist project managers with gathering physical completion data.
    • Verify charge codes for purchase requisitions and change orders to ensure proper cost accounting.
    • Assist and monitor effective cost control and budget management practices.
    • Support development of weekly/monthly cost and status reports for the project team.
    • Update project information using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Online, or web-based project management controls systems.
Position Qualifications
    • Minimum of 5-10 years of project control experience required.
    • Experience working through the entire project life cycle required.
    • Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of cost/schedule management, earned value management, change management, forecasting, and risk assessment required.
    • Ability to present data to management in an organized manner required.
    • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team required.
    • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and situations required.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
    • Ability to perform in a business environment, maintaining professionalism in all communications and demeanor required.
    • Experience working with public agencies, either directly for the agency or as a contractor who has worked on public projects preferred.
    • Experience working with public agencies on the road, bridge, flood control, waterworks, and/or aviation projects preferred.
$85,000 - $120,000 a year The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000.  A hired employee will be placed within this salary range based on a variety of legitimate business reasons, including but not limited to the individual's scope of relevant experience and geographic location. Additional Requirements   Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.   Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.   About PMA   At PMA, employee well-being is a daily priority.
