Organization Overview

The basic approach of our laboratory is to use mouse models of neurological disease to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which neuronal function is disrupted in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, and other neuropathological conditions.
Overview

The Research Assistant will perform daily/weekly lab chores and aid in research projects, performing experiments with a postdoc/research associate or independently.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with molecular/biochemical experiments (Western blotting, IP, ELISA, activity assays, cell culture, qPCR)
  • Assist with animal experiments (blood draws, DNA prep, PCR, behavioral tests, injections, perfusions, brain sectioning/immuohistochemistry)
  • Maintain animal colonies - genotyping, breeding, weaning
  • Pick up packages, order lab supplies, and make general lab solutions
  • Help keep lab space organized

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in field of biological sciences
  • Proven experience in wet lab setting and mouse handling
  • Must possess basic knowledge of molecular and biochemical techniques
  • Two year minimum commitment

Preferred:

  • Neuroscience background
  • Completed independent research project in college

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Compensation Range: Min

USD $48,300.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max

USD $52,000.00/Yr.
