SAIC is looking for a Circuit Board Chemist to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Candidate will provide technician level support for the following Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fabrication and assembly related efforts: Operation of all PCB fabrication, assembly and quality assurance equipment; support for the procurement of PCB related parts, supplies, and material required to support the activities described herein; develop and evaluate new and existing PCB processing methods to include corresponding technical documentation and standards.  Provide design verification for multi-layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) in accordance with IPC Standards, and the design disclosure data package to meet the requirements of the industry specs and standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide all levels of Printed Circuit Board fabrication shop support, including some day-to-day tasking for the operation of the shop, maintaining proper process documentation and records for quality assurance.  Maintain tracking documents for PCB fabrication and assembly runs.
  • Maintain production schedule of PCB jobs.
  • Confirm proper equipment operation and perform safe and effective repairs. 
  • Provide design verification for multi-layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) in accordance with IPC-2220 series of design specification documents, IPC-7351, and IPC-D-279.
  • Deliver a complete design disclosure data package to meet the requirements of the industry specs and standards for circuit board design and routing files preference is for Altium compatible files, IPC-2581 data files, and RS-274X Gerber files.
  • Confirm proper equipment operation and perform safe and effective repairs. Perform reverse engineering operations for legacy PCBs and develop corresponding technical design documentation packages.
  • Assist in the technical assessments of quality and reliability, which includes inspection, testing, and repair.
  • Provide comprehensive fabrication support that includes general manufacturing processing including imaging, wet processing, lamination, drilling, routing, plating, solder mask, quality assurance, Computer Aided Drafting/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and other panel operations required to deliver PCB products. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelors degree and two (2) years or more experience; Masters degree and zero (0) years related experience.
  • Must be able to pass CPR and AED courses to achieve certification. 
  • Experience with some or all of the following machines: Auto Titrators; Cyclic Voltammetry o Ultraviolet-visible Spectroscopy (UV-VIS); Chemical based equipment. 
  • Comfortable working with strong chemicals on a daily basis required.   
  • Experience with chemical analysis, extensive knowledge of analysis techniques to support novel processes, act as the Alternate Hazmat Coordinator (Government provided training). 
  • Travel may be required with 2-3 day notice to multiple locations 2-3 times per year.
  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.  SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • General Knowledge of 6S+
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes 
  • Strong understanding of Hazardous Materials and chemical processes
