SAIC is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer to support the Air Force's guided weapons research, development, modeling, analyses, and simulation of GNC algorithms. This will include simulation, hardware-in the-loop, and field testing. Our customer is the US Air Force Armament Directorate Office located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. 


A successful candidate will be assigned to a small team of scientist and engineers working with civil service government engineers.  They will be developing, modeling, and analyzing within a laboratory, testing both advanced components and systems. 


Responsibilities:

  • The candidate shall assist with the development of integrated guided munitions, navigation, and control algorithms.
  • Development of models and analyses to assist in the development of functional simulations for both tactical and strategic guidance systems.
  • Evaluate concepts' or concept subsystems' performance and stability. Help establish concept performance limitations.
  • Assist in modeling and simulation development of guided weapons systems and concepts.
  • Document studies and analysis findings via briefings, scientific papers and technical reports.
  • Software implementation of complex guidance, navigation, and controls algorithms.
  • Work with a small team of scientists and engineers to model, simulate and study the performance of potential Air Force guided weapon systems, concepts and advanced weapon subsystem technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, scientific or related field (M.S/M.E desired)
  • 3+ years' experience in guidance, navigation, and controls algorithm development and analyses; Modeling and Simulation experience desired
  • Knowledge of Virtual and Constructive simulation development and the use of these simulations for guided weapon system and concept flight performance predictions
  • Scientific programming experience required  
  • C++, Python, and/or MATLAB
  • Machine Learning experience a plus
  • Understanding of digital signal processing techniques
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance
