Our mission is to supply optimal engineering, science and advanced technology solutions to the Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support for the USAF Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Range and Network Directorate (SMC/RN) services to modernize and sustain the Launch and Test Range System (LTRS), the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) and the Space Training Acquisition Office (STAO).
The candidate for this position participates in the development of solutions to a variety of problems moderate in scope and complexity through frequent use and application of industry practices, techniques, and standards.The Logistics Engineer:
Performs system fault analysis, life cycle maintenance and integrated product support (IPS) of major systems.
Controls the efficient flow of goods, services and information between point of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements.
May also plan, schedule and manage the efficient movement of material from receiving or the warehouse to production.
Develops raw material requirements and scheduling requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules and plans and manages material movement with purchasing, warehouse, and production.
Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistic processes. Logistics functions encompass maintenance, supply, transportation and logistics plans. Inherently included as logistics tasks are program formulation, policy planning, coordination, inspection, integrated logistics processes, joint planning logistics, acquisition and wholesale logistics, product support, asset visibility, material management and supervision.
Specific tasks in support to RN (not all inclusive):
Manage Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) plans and guides
Manage Life Cycle Sustainment Plans and Material Fielding Plans
Assess new product proposals for impact on operation and maintenance staff, training, qualifications requirements, system life cycle costs and Integrated Logistics Support
Facilitate and contribute to the Integrated Logistics Support working group and technical interchange meetings.
Assess prime development contractor provided operation and maintenance training materials and technical orders (TO), or equivalent technical manuals development. Assess technical manuals and logistics data in support of DT&E to begin the TO certification process, contribute to In-Process Review (IPR) and prepare reports for the IPT on findings and recommendations.
Qualifications• Clearance level: DoD Secret
• Bachelors (STEM) and 10 years or more experience in acquisition logistics as defined in the specific tasks in support to RN; Masters and one (1) year or more experience in acquisition logistics as defined in the specific task in support to RN
• Participated with government workforce to establish plans and objectives
• Ability to recommend/make decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensures effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives
Current DOD TS or TS/SCI security clearance
