We're hiring a full time Nurse Practitioners with Family Medicine experience to work as part of a clinical team to diagnose and treat primary care patients of all ages in our Primary Care practice. The candidate must be licensed in RI, experience with primary care is preferred, although we will consider the right recent graduate.

The NP must be a graduate of an Accredited School or College; have current NP licensure in State of Rhode Island or pending, and current completion of BLS provider course.

Nurse Practitioner – Express Care

South County Health is a leader in medical quality, service, and innovation, providing care to patients across Rhode Island in acute and outpatient settings including at Medical and Wellness Centers in Westerly, East Greenwich, and Warwick, as well as Primary Care and Specialty provider offices in Cranston, Narragansett, Newport, and Wakefield. South County Health is comprised of three healthcare entities: South County Hospital, South County Home Health and South County Medical Group. South County Hospital has a 5-Star Overall Rating for Quality from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, is a global leader in orthopedic robotic-assisted surgeries, and is home to more robotic-assisted options than any other hospital in the state.

This position may float between East Greenwich and Westerly Express Care locations. Work as part of a clinical team to diagnose and treat urgent and non-urgent conditions in patients of all ages in our Medical and Wellness Center.

Licensed in RI and experienced with urgent care walk-in, Occupational Health and Sports physicals/injuries. Hours of operation are: M-F 8am-6pm, Sat 8am-4pm (maybe subject to change). PA-C must be a graduate from CAHEA (Committee for Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association) accredited training program; present proof of passage of the NCCPA (National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants) Certification examination, and current registration as a physician assistant from the RI department of health. APRN must be a graduate of an Accredited School or College; present current RNP licensure in State of Rhode Island or pending, and current completion of BLS provider course. Will require credentialing by the Medical Staff.

Surgical Specialties Advanced Practitioner

The Surgical PA provides diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventative care, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Assist the physician/surgeon in the global management of patient care in all perioperative settings including (but not limited to) General Surgery, Urology, and Wound Care.

The Surgical NP will be part of a team that covers the following responsibilities on a rotating basis:

  • Assist licensed physicians/surgeons as 1st assistant in OR with patient surgery, both open and DaVinci robotic surgical cases. The Surgical PA/NP will handle routine problems related to the surgical patient in the perioperative setting. Will be expected to maintain surgical skills.
  • Post-operative care – Is responsible for assisting the surgeon with providing post-operative care including writing orders, communicating the care plan with family, and discharge planning.
  • Cover inpatient consults and follow-ups for General Surgery, Urology and Wound Care
  • Cover outpatient wound care clinic as primary clinician. Develops and manages an individualized wound care treatment plan for optimal healing outcomes or chronic maintenance
  • Day/Night/Weekend call coverage as first call escalating to attending MD on call as required

Reports to: Chief of General Surgery

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate from accredited PA-C or APRN program
  • Current license or ability to obtain license to practice in the State of Rhode Island
  • Credentialing by the SCH Medical Staff
  • Work well independently in addition to being skilled in interdisciplinary collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with DaVinci surgical robot

Minimum of 3 years experience in one (or all) specialties under scope of position (General Surgery, Urology and Wound Care)
