Outside Sales Representative (Springfield, MO, potential remote opportunity)

This position will be responsible for prospecting and closing new business opportunities with new and existing customers.   


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; participating in trade shows and conferences, and tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.
  • Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
  • Recommend products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
  • Responsible for working with Engineering, Accounting, Materials, and Production to provide customer quotes, warranties, contract terms and delivery dates.
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales effort
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products, and to provide sales support 
  • Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
  • Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.
  • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Work with customers, suppliers and other SRC Automotive departments/employees to provide solutions for customer issues.
  • Conduct and analyze customer, market, and competitor data for current and future sales trends and customer needs.
  • Determine areas for sales growth, design and execute a plan to realize that growth.
  • Will include approximately 50%+ travel schedule this may vary depending on departmental goals and objectives.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Essential Qualifications

    • Three (3) – Six (6) years of previous sales experience, specifically landing new large accounts
    • Two (2) – Five (5) years of successful customer relations experience.
    • Sales experience in automotive, industrial or/and marine is preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
    • High level of energy and motivation.
    • Professionalism, self assured in a variety of settings.
    • BS/BA in Business Administration, Marketing, Industrial Technology, or related discipline preferred.
    • Requires effective relationship management skills with co-workers in a team environment and with customers in a sales and support context.
    • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
    • Requires the desire to expand personal competencies and capabilities through training and education.
    • Computer literacy/experience required.  Must be proficient in Windows environments.   Working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and e-mail. 
    • Must have valid driver's license for travel requirements
