Community Life (CL) is The Community Builders (TCB)'s place-based model that uses healthy and stable housing as a platform for connecting our residents to services, community resources and opportunities so they can thrive. By creating programs and building strategic partnerships with residents and local stakeholders, CL helps create pathways to opportunities in early education, economic mobility, youth development, community engagement, voting registration, healthy living, and resident leadership.

Position Description:

Reporting to the Property Manager in close collaboration with the Director of Community Life - New England, the Community Life Service Coordinator (CLSC) develops and coordinates support services for residents living in Mashpee Village. As an integral part of the site-based property management team, the CLSC will ensure resident and community success through close work with property management and maintenance, by building and sustaining relationships with local and regional partners, planning programs and other on-site opportunities for residents, and working one-on-one with residents to assist them in achieving their goals.

Mashpee Village, in collaboration with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, has programming focused on stress management and mental health. The CLSC will be trained to use this evidence-based model to provide support to residents experiencing low to moderate mental health symptoms and supervise resident Health Ambassadors who provide outreach and plan events.

Community Life Service Coordinator Responsibilities include:

  • In close coordination and communication with the Mashpee Village Site-Based Team (Community Manager, Assistant Community Manager and Maintenance), support residents to stabilize housing and reduce evictions.
  • Collect information for the Community Life Questionnaire (CLQ) on an annual basis.
  • Work with local organizations to successfully implement community engagement initiatives, as identified through the annual CL Questionnaire.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor progress of the Community Success Plan, a one-year, data-informed strategic plan outlining site priorities, strategies, and activities designed to meet CL outcomes by 2025.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community-based partners.
  • Track and report on progress as required by partners and funders to fulfill grant commitments.
  • Build and nurture relationships with residents to better understand their aspirations and goals, and to connect them with local resources and opportunities.
  • Participation and coordination of resident support and resources around housing stabilization issues such as late rent payments, housekeeping, and other lease violations
  • Develop and conduct new welcome orientations for all new residents within 14 days of move in.
  • Provide ongoing outreach to residents of Mashpee Village through door knocking, phone calls, flyers, etc
  • Develop and distribute monthly site-based calendar of events.
  • Use of TCB's data collection and analysis systems, CL Dynamics, and Power BI, to document services provided to residents and outcomes achieved.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, at least 12 hours per year that pertain to the CLSC position.
  • Recruit, train and support volunteers and interns to assist on the site.
  • Supervise Health Ambassadors.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested.

  • Ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, and beliefs that differ across cultures and to respond appropriately to these differences with residents in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services.
  • Capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to, residents, site-based colleagues, senior staff, volunteers, interns, and community partners.
  • Ability to collect, track and understand data to assess programs and partnerships and inform strategies.
  • Operate in a timely manner, with consistency and a high level of integrity and professionalism; provide excellent customer service to residents and partners.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local policies affecting housing is a plus.
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings is required.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred, not required.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree with a focus in social work, human services, public health, or community development
  • At least 2+ years of overall professional experience working with seniors and people with disabilities in housing or human services agencies required.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and other computer programs
  • Previous engagement, communication, and collaboration with people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds preferred.
  • Experience working with partners and site team members to implement programs and initiative
  • Knowledge of Yardi, Property Management databases, Dynamics and Power BI is a plus.
  • Bilingual is a plus, not required.
