Your Role:

 

Tetra Tech's Duluth, GA office is seeking an engineering or environmental science intern to learn the general principles of environmental consulting and develop skills related to their program of study. The intern will work full-time during the summer will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of areas in environmental consulting, including contaminated site assessment and remediation, natural resource management, emergency and disaster response, Brownfields redevelopment, environmental compliance, and waste management.


We are searching for candidates that have the willingness to learn new tasks, assist in administrative and scientific tasks, be impactful, and be decisive.
 
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Data management including the collection and entry of data for evaluation by senior project staff.
  • Data interpretation/analyses consistent with local, state and federal regulations and in support of projects primarily in the Southeast.
  • Assistance with report development and production.
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
  • Opportunities for field work support are also provided, including support to environmental site assessments, multi-media sampling efforts, and facility audits/inspections. 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of data collection and tabulation in preparation of scientific documents. 
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite with expertise in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to format and produce reports as well as the ability to maintain file management.
  • Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and a positive attitude.
  • The successful candidate is able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format and make evaluated decisions.
  • The successful candidate will work as a problem solver, have an interest and ability to work in a collaborative manner, and have the flexibility to adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to manage time well and work on tasks as part of a larger project team.
  • Strong health and safety ethic.
  • In addition to English, fluency in other languages will be considered a plus.
  • Self-motivated and able to take directions.
  • Ability to function in an office environment for office-based tasks.

Education and Certifications:

Qualified candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate environmental science or civil/environmental engineering program (e.g., environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, chemistry, or other scientific field).

Physical Demands:

Lifting of field sampling and other equipment up to 30 pounds may be required.

Work Environment:

Work location will be in an office environment, but some potential for completing tasks remotely (when feasible).
