Your Role:

Tetra Tech, a leading environmental and management consulting firm, is seeking a geologist or environmental scientist to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio to support various environmental projects throughout the mid-west, predominately within Ohio. This position will support a variety of contracts, including federal, state, and commercial clients.  The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, with experience managing task orders or projects and the ability to work successfully both independently and in team settings.

This position will support implementation of environmental investigations with the following general responsibilities:

  • Support and manage environmental projects including Phase I and Phase II assessments; hydrogeological investigations; UST closure and corrective action investigations; and remedial actions.
  • Complete field data collection activities, including soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling.
  • Oversight and management of subcontractors during completion of geophysical surveys and private utility locates; drilling and installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil gas probes; and excavation and other remedial activities.
  • Communicate and interact with project clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Support proposal and cost estimate development.
  • Interpret analytical data using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Prepare technical report deliverables, including data evaluation, interpretation, and presentation.
  • Mentor and train junior level staff.

Qualifications:

Must have 2 to 6+ years of environmental consulting or related experience.  Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and previous experience with completion and/or management of site investigations and remedial actions are required.  Understanding of due diligence and brownfield redevelopment processes are a must.  Experience and knowledge of U.S. EPA, Ohio EPA VAP, and/or Ohio BUSTR are preferred, but not required. Previous private or public sector client management and business development experience a plus. 

Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Must also be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. 

Must be able to drive and pass a motor vehicle records check. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, Teams) also required.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and 8-Hour refresher certifications.
  • Asbestos and/or lead certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Professional licenses or certifications such as Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer and/or Ohio VAP Certified Professional are preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands: 

Must be able to walk around project sites in all types of terrain and be physically able to carry up to 35 pounds of equipment.  Must be able to complete annual medical monitoring program.

Work Environment:

Role responsibilities will require project site visits and field work up to approximately 20%, which could include occassional overnight travel.  Site work may be completed outdoors within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions.
