The Environmental Scientist V position will be responsible for leading and conducting various projects, including but not limited to environmental site assessments including the sampling of environmental media, wetland delineations, Threatened and Endangered (T&E) surveys, environmental permitting, due diligence investigations, and preparation of technical reports.  Candidates must have direct work experience in conducting site assessments under FDEP Chapter 62-780, and CERCLA.  Experience with PFAS investigations is preferred.  In additional the position will support natural resources projects including but not limited to wetland delineations, listed species surveys, and preparing USACE and FDEP environmental permits associated with site development.  The position also required FL Storm water inspection experience and certification.  The candidate should be physically able to complete strenuous fieldwork to support wetland delineations, listed species surveys, and environmental due diligence and report to Tetra Tech Project Manager. This position requires the employee to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Your Role:

•    Serve as Field Operations Leader for environmental Investigations, lead and direct junior staff and subcontractors.
•    Serve as Site Safety Officer during environmental investigations
•    Evaluate environmental data, prepare presentations and reports documenting finding.
•    Attend and present at client meetings.
•    Conduct Section 404 Wetlands delineation and habitat assessments. Prepare all associated data sheets and wetland reports.
•    Prepare USACE Nationwide Permits, Section 404 Dredge/Fill, Section 401 Water Quality Certification, and FDEP Environmental Resource Permit applications.
•    Use Global Positioning System (GPS) to document points or stake features in the field.
•    Lead field staff in environmental investigations.

 

Qualifications:

•    A Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required, Master's Degree is preferred.   A Geology Certificate or B.S in geology is preferred. 
•    A minimum of 5 years of related experience in environmental science, environmental consulting, or a nexus industry.
•    Candidates must have direct work experience conducting wetland delineations, listed species.
•    Experience with the Endangered Species Act.
•    GIS/database/statistical experience in the environmental fields is a plus; however, Tetra Tech has GIS and CADD staff available to prepare the required mapping.

•    Proficient with using GPS, GIS software programs, Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint.
•    Capable of extensive fieldwork.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills.
•    Wetland delineation training is preferred.
•    Must possess a valid drivers' license in good standing. 
•    The ability to operate 4WD equipment and trailer attachments is preferred.
•    Knowledge of Florida flora and fauna, hydric soils, environmental regulations, and permitting.
•    40-hour HAZWOPER training is required
