The Program

The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia's aid programs such as health, education, emergency preparedness and response and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and disaster disk reduction, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

The Institutional Partnerships Program partners with the Government of Fiji (GoF) to deliver assistance in targeted areas where Australia is well placed to support Fiji navigate the economic impact of COVID-19: through government twinning partnerships, technical assistance and grants that can be mobilised quickly to support Fiji's ongoing stability, prosperity, and resilience to shocks.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure government stakeholders have a comprehensive understanding of IPEF commitments and their respective roles in implementation
  • Ensure that government has enhanced capacity to translate IPEF commitments into its domestic law, implementation of new laws, engage industry and participate in the uptake of international standards
  • Provide assistance with stakeholder coordination and engagement across government and relevant agencies
  • Provide basic administration support for IPEF engagements
  • Provide regular reports to relevant DFAT officials on progress of required IPEF outputs

Selection criteria

  • An undergraduate degree in law, economics, business, public policy or a related field with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a policy or program role. Previous experience working in the public sector is desirable
  • Sound understanding or the capacity to quickly acquire understanding of Fiji's trade policy
  • Strong administrative experience to support competing deadlines and workloads
  • Strong facilitation skills in working with multiple stakeholders, with strong presentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the proven ability to quickly build and maintain strong relationships with people from varying backgrounds, levels and experience
