The opportunity
- Based in Nauru and reserved for citizens of Nauru
- Salary from AUD 24,000 to 28,000 depending upon relevant skills and experience
- Two-year contract with a possibility of extension
Nauru Education Program
The Nauru Education Program (NEP) is administered by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The NEP aims to strengthen Nauru education sector performance and Australia's Pacific relationships, driving shared prosperity and progress. The NEP has a focus on stronger literacy and numeracy outcomes; more equitable and relevant education pathways; and more inclusive, evidence-based, and efficient government systems.
The Nauru Education Program is tailored to the local cultural context and government priorities, through Nauru's Department of Education (DoE) and other stakeholders, including teachers, school and community leaders and parents.
Key responsibilities
The Program Officer will support the Country Manager to:
- Develop and revise annual work plans (AWPs)
- Prepare program reports (annual, six-monthly and others as required)
- Purchasing and procurement of goods and services according to program requirements
- Coordinate program events, functions, and workshops
- Ensure compliance with DFAT's standards for development programs, in particular, child protection and fraud, and policy commitments in gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI)
- Provide general administrative and secretariat support as required to support the NEP program.
Selection criteria
- Degree qualifications, or relevant experience in business administration, project management or similar
- Demonstrated experience in the management and administration of projects
- Demonstrated experience engaging with diverse stakeholders in the government sector and/or donors is preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Office 365
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
