We are looking for a Senior BIM Modeler/Designer to join our Design team located in Pittsburgh, PA. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing 3D models and producing drawings in CAD based on these models for hydraulic structures including locks, dams, levees, guide walls, bridges, and other infrastructure. The Senior BIM Modeler/Designer will be an integral part of a team that is nationally known for their expertise in inland navigation, flood control, and coastal protection structures. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of CAD experience and 5+ years of experience utilizing BIM software (3+ years specifically with Bentley's OpenBuildings Designer) and eager to lead the team in this area.

Your Role:

  • Proactively engage with project managers and design engineers to ensure timely project completion within allocated budgets, which may include occasional overtime work.
  • Assist structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering staff in the development of complex preliminary and final designs of hydraulic structures.
  • Analyze complex sketches, notes and other input to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete models and drawings.
  • Develop 3D models of project features using CADD software. Experience with Bentley software (OpenBuildings) required. Experience with AutoDesk software (Revit) a plus.
  • Coordinate with Tetra Tech CAD Managers to implement project-specific CAD standards.
  • Set up project drawings to conform to client standards.
  • Implement additional material data through Parts and Families or Instance Data Catalogs to meet specifications provided per project to produce Product Schedules and Quantity Reports. Be able to maintain these Libraries for a Project.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers and other CAD team members.
  • Utilize CAD best practices and QA/QC procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency of their work. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in related field (experience can be substituted for degree).
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience and working knowledge of structural/ civil/ electrical/ mechanical engineering principles, practices, and methods.
  • 5 years of strong design experience and competence with BIM software. 
  • 3+ years OpenBuildings experience.
  • Experience with use of BIM software to develop 2D conventional drawings.
  • Experience using U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CAD Standards is a plus.
  • Proven knowledge of plan set development and ability to conform to various jurisdictional standards is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, committed to project schedules and deadlines, able to work within a team environment and independently, and self-motivated.
  • Solid work ethic with attention to detail, a care for the handling of projects, and a desire to improve and grow their knowledge.
