We currently seek a Senior Electrical Engineer to work in one of our New York (Ithaca, Albany, Farmingdale) or Massachusetts (Marlborough, Boston) offices.  A remote position may also be considered.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to apply your design expertise on exciting and challenging projects. You will have the chance to mentor and impart knowledge to junior engineers and designers. At the same time, you will be working with one of the region's top education-related A/E design firms, gaining additional expertise and building on your career.

Tetra Tech A/E in New York is comprised of over 80 professionals, working in a highly collaborative environment. We provide planning, design, and construction phase services for a wide range of building types and clients, specializing in K-12 facilities and international projects. Our overall team of professionals provides innovative architectural design, building systems engineering, interior design, site design, civil design, and 3-D Imaging services. Our designers embrace advanced building methods and technologies that provide real-world solutions resulting in more efficient and sustainable projects.

Your Role:

  • Design building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, security, television, telephone, and communications systems
  • Develop appropriate system concepts, perform calculations, layout, sizing, selections, and specifications, in coordination with other disciplines
  • Act as lead engineer on specific projects, manage and mentor junior level department engineers and designers in developing contract drawings, cost estimates, technical specifications, and other relevant documents
  • Perform site visits of existing electrical systems to evaluate or inspect work in progress/completed
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate/meet with project teams, senior staff members, project managers, clients, and other parties
  • Occasional travel to project sites is required, may include overseas travel 
     

Qualifications:\

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or relevant field
  • 8+ years of related work experience specifically with electrical systems for buildings
  • Licensed PE (Professional Engineer) preferred
  • Experience working in an Engineering and/or Architectural/Engineering consulting firm strongly desired
  • Experience working on K-12 School projects and/or Federal projects is a plus
  • Knowledgeable of AutoCAD and Revit/BIM with working knowledge of MS Office
     

Additional information:

  • Requires satisfactory completion of a background check
  • Requires successful evaluation of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and maintaining a safe driving record as defined by Tetra Tech's Vehicle Safety program.

Anticipated Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000. Please note that this range reflects the pay scale that Tetra Tech INE reasonably expects to pay for the role. The pay scale will also depend on various factors, such as job duties and requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
