Tetra Tech is seeking a Sustainable Energy Finance Senior Advisor. This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in growing a cutting-edge advisory practice. As Senior Advisor you will have a wide palette of skills, knowledge, and industry relationships to draw from as you work in a close-knit team to source and execute financial advisory assignments.  Position responsibilities

Business Development

  • Use your deep professional relationships and industry knowledge to cultivate new clients for the Practice (e.g. Development Finance Institutions, infrastructure investment funds, project developers, commercial banks, utilities etc.) and win high value new business.
  • Help identify, conceptualize, price and pitch new business opportunities, including preparation of client outreach documentation and proposals.
  • Sourcing, diligently review and pursue select incoming calls for tender.
  • Advise the Practice Lead on optimal use of staff resources.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with teams across Tetra Tech to develop more comprehensive client solutions, grow the practice and diversify project opportunities. 

Investment Advisory

  • Work independently on complex assignments.
  • Lead projects and teams, including on:
    • Development of energy and climate finance-related investment strategies for clients.
    • Implementation of transaction advisory assignments for energy transition project developers in emerging and developing markets.
    • Implementation of energy and climate finance-related due diligence assignments.
    • Implementation of blended finance advisory services for energy and climate finance related investments.
  •         Manage client relationships. 

 Strategy 

  • Contribute to evolving the positioning of the Sustainable Energy Finance Advisory Practice in the market with a view to developing a clear profile and unique selling proposition/ differentiators from competition, while ensuring complementarity with Tetra Tech's existing energy advisory service offering
  • Help develop and build out service streams, tools and solutions for the Practice that respond to market needs and demand.
  • Lead outreach and knowledge sharing on global emerging practices related to climate finance and energy transition financing.
  • Represent Tetra Tech as a thought leader at conferences, webinars and on social media platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Minimum qualifications

  • Master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, environmental sciences, or business administration.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in sustainable energy and climate finance.
  • Knowledge and track record of managing or advising on structuring investment securities, including project/sponsor equity, mezzanine debt, corporate equity, senior debt, tax equity, etc.
  • A deep understanding of the electricity supply industry in multiple emerging and developing economies, regulatory approaches, generation, transmission and distribution technologies.
  • Strong executive presence with an ability to build trusted relationships with partners, customers, lenders, service providers and investors.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a strong following from junior colleagues.
  • Proven ability to navigate multifunctional organizations and transition between diverse functions, from analysis, to strategy, to presentation to project execution.
  • Ability to inspire trust, drive success, and navigate difficult changes effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset exhibited through resilience, flexibility and comfort with risk.
  • Exceptional communications skills, adept at listening, empathizing and effectively communicating with diverse audiences, especially customers and partners.
  • High level of self-awareness and humility, with enthusiasm for confronting challenges and uncomfortable situations.
  • Commitment to exemplify and promote our values, motivating others by example.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Valued qualifications

  • Experience working at a multilateral development bank, investment bank, an investment fund or an advisory firm.
  • Oral and written communication skills in French, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic or Swahili

Physical demands & work environment

  • Occasional travel internationally to project locations and conferences.
