We are currently seeking a Water Resources Civil Design Engineer to work in our Irvine, California office.

We are in search of a highly motivated team member to join our team of engineers and scientists who has a strong quantitative skillset to support municipal, state, federal, and private projects in the southwest and throughout the nation. In this position, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real-world flooding and stormwater problems, while learning the skills needed to be a successful consultant. This is an engaging and high-impact position in which you will work closely with national industry leaders to support clients with flood risk management, stormwater management, and coastal projects. In this role, you will work as part of a team. Your work will involve routine and non-routine assignments related to water resources projects of substantial variety and complexity.

Your Role:

  • Provide planning and design support for all aspects of water resources projects, including flood risk projects, stormwater projects, and coastal projects. 
  • Able to work in the field to perform field investigations and inspections of facilities. 
  • Conduct hydrologic, hydraulic, and sediment transport analysis.
  • Perform various types of water quantity and quality modeling.
  • Analyze watershed data using GIS and statistical techniques.
  • Provide support for stormwater management projects focused on stormwater quality, GI, and LID.
  • Perform design analyses through application of quantitative and qualitative evaluation techniques and effectively link engineering and modeling to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare construction drawings, details, specifications, calculations, and engineers estimate of probable construction costs.
  • Develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures/maps, and tables/matrices.
  • Perform writing assignments to contribute to project documentation such as memos and reports.
  • Support cost-benefit analyses. 
  • Assist with quality control and assurance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an Accredited College or University
  • EIT certification and up to 3 years of relevant civil engineering experience. 
  • Professional Engineer licensed or attempting to acquire. 
  • Experience with design in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation (earthwork grading, profiles, and surface development), modeling programs, and ArcGIS. 
  • Experience with preparing construction plans and detailed drawings. 
  • Demonstrated educational and relevant work experience showing strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Background or training in river mechanics and/or watershed management. 
  • Desire to learn other design software programs. 
  • Computer literate; knowledge of MS Word and Excel. 
  • Able to juggle multiple projects from various Project Managers. 
  • Time management and organizational skills.

The salary range for this position is approximately $70-80k depending on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
