Description
The River School is seeking a Preschool to 5th Grade Theater Arts Educator for the 2024-25 school year. The Theater Arts Educator serves a crucial leadership role in the Arts & Sciences Division in the school as they teach all ages of students, direct family-facing, elementary student performances and help showcase the important role of arts education in progressive schools.
The role of the Theater Arts Educator at The River School includes:
- designing and implementing creative and interactive drama curriculum for groups of children in the School;
- working closely with the music educator to develop and lead a scaffolded Performing Arts program for students in Preschool through Upper Elementary;
- sharing expertise from the fields of drama and music education with colleagues;
- collaborating with classroom speech-language pathologists and educators to support the acquisition of spoken language skills in students with hearing loss;
- collaborating with other educators in the Arts & Sciences Division;
- organizing, directing and implementing the school-wide community programs such as student performances from students K through Grade 5 as well as family engagement mornings for students in the Preschool program;
The position offered is full-time, classified as exempt.
