Description

Main Function: The Director of Advanced Practice provides oversite of the center for advanced practice at Thompson Health which is a direct reporting structure for NP's and PA's and CNM employed by Thompson Health in all clinical sites, including inpatient and outpatient care settings.  Director of Advanced Practice serves as a collaborator to the Directors of Advanced Practice in the affiliates (Strong Memorial, Highland Hospital, Thompson Health, Noyes, St. James, Jones Memorial)

The center for advance practice has about seventy APP's.  The practice areas include medicine, pediatrics, emergency/urgent care, surgery, primary care, OB/GYN, critical care and ambulatory. 

The Director of Advanced Practice is responsible for communication, recruitment, talent strategizing, retention, advocacy, education, evaluation, quality, billing, mentorship, clinical competence, and financials for the center of advanced practice within FFT. 

Required Job Specific Competencies:  The Director of Advanced Practice must be an excellent communicator.  Must have experience recruiting and strategizing/anticipating talent gaps within a department.  Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with clinical chairs and system leaders to ensure optimization of APPs clinical skill sets.  Demonstrates strong organizational skills and is able to recommend innovative utilization of APPs to meet the health system's needs.  Demonstrates strong advocacy skills and able to represent APP team to the senior leadership team.  Demonstrate knowledge and the skill necessary to continue develop the education and competency of the APP team at FFT.  Ability to evaluate and provide feedback to APP team in a meaningful and effective process.  Possess desire and ability to help FFT APP team continuously improve and maintain highest levels of quality including disciplinary action plans and HR issues.  Understanding of billing best practices and ability to educate team on billing opportunities for improvement.  Demonstrated success mentoring other advanced practice providers. Must maintain clinical competence and have ongoing clinical presence.

Qualifications:(Licenses, Certifications)

  • Graduation from an AMA/AHO approved school as a Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Registration to practice in New York State as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Midwife required.
  • If a physician assistant, must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Education:      

Required:

  • Graduation from an AMA approved school as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Graduation from an AMA approved school as a Physician Assistant
  • Graduation from a state approved school as a Midwife  
  • Masters degree (PA, NP, Midwife)

Preferred:

Certified in specialty, Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, etc.)

Experience:

  • Required (minimum 5 years as an APP)
  • Preferred Previous experience in leadership

Pay Range: $80.00 - $90.00

Starting Pay: Based on Experience
