Join a world-class academic healthcare system, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Finance Operations Lead  in the Financial Planning department.This role will specifically support assist our newest location; Crown Point Indiana  which is set to open spring of 2024! This role is a hybrid remote opportunity with at least 2 days a week in office. The office location will vary by project but you could be traveling to Northwest, Indiana - Crown Point or Harvey, IL at Ingalls Memorial Hospital. 

 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations and according to established policies and procedures, plans, organizes, and manages the fiscal services of the entities covered. Establishes goals, objectives, and standards for all areas of responsibility. Participates in the development of a strategic plan for the hospital and yearly operational budget creation. Collects and prepares cost data, analyzes fiscal accounting and related systems, fiscal presentations for budget and reimbursement, and financial feasibility studies as directed. Reviews the financial performance of all operating units and provides guidance on performance improvement. Works directly with operational leaders on financial planning and trains them accordingly.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • With Director formulates short and long-term financial goals, the operating budgets, and the capital budgets for the Hospital and related entities based on UCM expectations.
  • With Director ensures the Hospitals are meeting UCM internal control and compliance expectations.
  • With Director ensures the Hospitals are meeting UCM internal control and compliance requirements. Coordinates and tracks capital budget( Routine, Strategic, and Foundation capital), monthly capital spend, first to sign on all approvals and cash forecasting in conjunction with the process established with UCM.
  • Analyzes and comments on operating units' profitability and productivity. Identifies opportunities for improvement in quality and reduction of the Hospital's cost per unit of service delivered. Identifies and develops new ventures with probable profitability as directed by the Director and CFO.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs, seminars.
  • Prepares ROI's, NPV and Product Line Analysis for designated Hospitals and related entities, conferences, or workshops in order to keep abreast of trends and changes in the field.
  • Assumes responsibility for cost data preparation, analysis, systems analysis and other fiscally related duties as assigned by the hospital Director.
  • Conducts quarterly reconciliation of system chargebacks to hospital and synergies, in addition to Incentive Bonus metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with C Suite leaders to provide them weekly KPI information and financial performance evaluation.
  • Trains operational leaders on “day in the life Finance” to make sure they are interacting with the tools available to ensure charge capture, monthly reporting accuracy, and volume tracking.

Required Qualifications:

  • Level of knowledge normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance

  • Core understanding of hospital operations, revenue cycle, accounting and labor productivity standards.

  • A minimum of five (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in financial/operations positions.

  • CHFP Preferred
  • Hospital finance experience with budgeting and working with operations to achieve financial targets
  • Familiarity with health care as integrated units, and health system matrixed reporting structures including business referral patterns, revenue cycle differences and payer structures.

  • Advanced analytical/problem solving skills necessary to develop and administer complex, effective fiscal services and activities with the confines of staff and budget constraints, develop overall policies and procedures for the organization, and critically and constructively analyze hospital operations.

  • An advanced knowledge and experience using Kronos, Excel, Access, Lawson, Healthcare Analytics and Hyperion is highly desirable.

  • The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital and corporate personnel and other external parties, frequently in situations that are sensitive and/or significant to the Hospital.

  • The analytical skills necessary to design and evaluate the assigned task and to probe the basis for underlying assumptions, and the ability to work autonomously.

  • The communications skills necessary to document clearly and concisely the analyses in writing and to communicate ideas, conclusions, etc., orally.
