Come be a vital part of our team as a Ultrasound Technologist at our cutting-edge facility in Crown Point! UChicago Medicine, Crown Point is a new two-story, 130,000-square-foot multispecialty care center and micro-hospital in Northwest Indiana for what will be the academic health system's largest off-site facility and its first freestanding building in Indiana.  It is anticipating an opening in Spring 2024.

 

As an ultrasound tech, you will perform Ultrasound and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. You will provide appropriate patient care and recognize patient's conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Complete competencies in all general abdominal and pediatric exams without duplex within 30 minutes
  • Participate in biopsy procedures with assistance
  • Perform portable and ED studies for all general ultrasound exams, adult and pediatric
  • Perform studies with minimal oversite from department Lead, Imaging Technical Coordinator or Manager; can perform duties independently
  • Utilize EPIC independently to begin exams, end exams, add supply charges, verify orders, change orders as necessary and review patient chart for pertinent history
  • Properly utilize PACS for image presentation
  • Review completed studies with radiologist for approval
  • Performs other duties assigned by Lead Technologist and Department Manager
  • Participate in imaging evaluation and improvement with Imaging Technical Coordinator

Required Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Ultrasound training program through an accredited school
  • Pediatric and advanced vascular preferred but not mandatory; ability to learn upon hire
  • Current registry by ARDMS in Abdominal Imaging or completion within one year of hire
  • CPR and BLS training
  • Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills
  • Handle high pressure, fast paced work environment
  • Excellent team work skills
  • Ability to work independently on call
