Site Medical Director, Job, UChicago Medical Group

 

UChicago Medicine Medical Group seeks an exceptional Site Medical Director for our South Loop location in Chicago, Illinois.

 

The Site Medical Director is the primary physician leader overseeing ambulatory patient care and related services provided by the University of Chicago Medical Center (''UCM") at the designated site. The Medical Director collaborates with UCM leaders and provides oversight, coordination, and integration of primary care and subspecialty units providing services on-site and in the surrounding community. Working closely with the Operations Director, the Medical Director will balance administrative responsibilities, clinical practice, maintaining a consistent on-site presence.

Medical Director Responsibilities

 

Clinic Operations 

  • Oversee clinic operations, safety, compliance, budget management
  • Collaborates on clinic program integration
  • Ensures unparalleled patient and staff experience 

Performance Management

  • Implement improvement initiatives to achieve desired performance, access, patient experience, utilization, clinical finances, and quality
  • Develop monitoring and reporting procedures
  • Manages conflict resolution and escalates issues
  • Approves clinical practice protocols
  • Participates in performance assessments of staff

Business Development and Relationship Management

  • Facilitates community-based relationships with referring physicians, patients, community groups, and civic leaders.
  • Represents the site-based physician and provider practices

Leadership Development

  • Foster collaboration and teamwork, recognizing individual contributions 
  • Plans education, and professional development for clinic providers

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • MD/DO
  • Can be a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician
  • Board Certified 
  • Completed a US Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Residency
  • Active member in good standing of the UCM Medical Staff without restriction to practice
  • No current or recent (within 2 years) UCM policy violations or professionalism interventions
  • Demonstrated track record of collaborative leadership as evidenced by successful leadership in a matrix reporting structure and partnerships with leaders from other disciplines to reach shared goals.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution
  • Intense interest in improving ambulatory care, with a focus on quality, safety, operational performance and professional development
  • Proven ability to represent various constituencies and accomplish goals by using influence within a complex matrix organization
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Visionary and innovative, able to inspire others throughout a large, complex organization, attracting followers, building effective coalitions, and being a catalyst for action
  • Passionately focused on patients and service excellence, performance and performance improvement
  • Politically savvy, able to maneuver through complex political situations effectively and quietly, be sensitive to how people and organizations function, and anticipate where conflicts are and plan accordingly
  • A highly skilled and persuasive communicator with a visible presence
  • An empathetic and respectful listener with strong interpersonal skills

  • Experience and knowledge in implementation and outcomes related to evidence-based medicine or quality improvement methodology

  • Results-oriented with the ability to keep the organization focused on achieving long-term goals, persistent in achieving success and in inspiring a shared vision for the future
  • Able and willing to make decisions to achieve evolving standards of excellence of patient care
