Description
The Department of Pathology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center
(UHCMC) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine is
seeking academic pathologists with expertise in one or more subspecialty areas
of surgical pathology: breast, cardiac, head and neck, gynecologic and
perinatal, neuropathology, and bone and soft tissue/sarcoma. Applicants
should be board-certified in AP or AP/CP with surgical pathology fellowship
training or equivalent experience and qualified for an unrestricted medical license
in the State of Ohio. Both recent graduates and more experienced pathologists
are encouraged to apply. Faculty members will participate in clinical service,
education of residents, fellows and medical students, and weekly tumor boards in
conjunction with Seidman Cancer Center. Involvement in clinical, translational or
basic research is encouraged, and collaborative research opportunities are
extensive. Additional protected time is possible for applicants who will pursue a
funded research program, and start-up packages are available for physicianscientist
candidates.
UHCMC receives over 100,000 surgical pathology cases annually including a
wide variety of neoplastic and non-neoplastic cases from adult and pediatric
patients. Molecular testing and next generation sequencing of tumors is
performed in house. The 900+ bed UHCMC includes UH Seidman Cancer
Center, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and UH MacDonald Women's
Hospital, all situated adjacent to CWRU. The NCI-designated Case
Comprehensive Cancer Center supports basic, translational and clinical cancer
research. UHCMC is ranked as one of America's 100 best hospitals. The
Department of Pathology is in the top 13 nationally in NIH funding.
