The budgeted amount for this position is up to $70,000. The assistant director for stewardship and donor communications is an integral member of UCR's Donor Relations program and central advancement team. This is a new position responsible for implementing a creative and engaging donor correspondence, acknowledgement and fund stewardship program. In close coordination/collaboration with Stewardship and Donor Relations team members, campus partners and influencing departments/units, the incumbent will recommend, develop, and implement programs dedicated to thanking, informing, and engaging UCR's key donor constituencies (past, current and future donors, alumni, community members, faculty, staff and students). The assistant director for stewardship and donor communications provides high level written and oral communications support when requested to further the efforts of all donor stewardship and engagement activities on behalf of Development and University Advancement. Minimum Requirements Thorough written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus.
Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with alumni, internal and key constituencies.
Thorough knowledge of the campus, its mission, goals, objectives, programs, achievements, infrastructure and issues of concern.
Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identifying real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions.
Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and / or health sciences.
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Proven ability to analyze, understand and interpret technical university research, financial data, and other information, translating it into understandable, reader friendly written reports and other written information for major donors and prospects.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to use good judgment, discretion, and sensitivity.
Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short-term stewardship communications plans.
Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences.
Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Office suite of applications, Desktop Publishing, Raisers Edge database, etc.) and expertise to utilize on-line and relational databases and other software to create, retrieve, and compile up-to-the-minute documents and historical information for reports.
Ability to organize a diverse workload, prioritize projects and implement action plans to achieve targeted objectives and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced office.
Demonstrated dedication to quality service as a work philosophy and skill in devising methods to provide effective quality service to all constituents.
Preferred Qualifications Skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines.
