Position Summary:
  The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI) is a part of UCI Health and the Susan & Henry College of Health Sciences. The Samueli Institute is working to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-informed treatment modalities, educating the public, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care, and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.
  Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Financial Operations is responsible for the daily and long-term financial operations and planning of the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute's (SSIHI) various research, clinical, and educational initiatives. The director supervises the finance team, receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to best use resources to meet schedules and goals. The director manages, prepares, administers, and directs control of budget as well as organizational resources. The director manages the activities of the financial and resource analyst staff, reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control, monitors division and department adherence to approved budget. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. The director will follow processes and provide recommendations and advisement on operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  Required:  
  • 5- 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems; budgeting and reporting techniques; fund accounting; human resource planning; accounting and bookkeeping. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations. 
  • Client services oriented; good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task. Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
     
Preferred:  
  • Professional certification preferred.
