Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of the Student Unions, this position provides management and leadership of the Memorial Union Games Area facility, mechanical equipment, marketing, budget, and programs, including but not limited to: bowling, billiards, console gaming and PC gaming. Provide general supervision and leadership of approx. 450 student staff. Manage and adhere to annual budget of more than $500,000. Responsible for proper cash handling; ensure appropriate training and compliance with all required POS (Point of Sale) and PCI (Payment Card Industry) policies and procedures. Coordinate programs and reservations within the Games Area. Outreach to student organizations, departments, and the campus community regarding available programs, services and event opportunities. Provide oversight for facility and maintenance and repair of equipment, including but not limited to the pinspotters and lane machine. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and best practices for pinspotter maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:            

  • Experience with facility management.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs for target populations.
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

  • Supervisory skills to recruit, select, train, motivate and evaluate staff.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical troubleshooting and safety.
  • Marketing skills to promote a large complex program with the goal of generating revenue.
  • Sensitivity to the cultural, social, and educational needs of a diverse campus community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:             

  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs in a University setting.
  • Experience working with student staff in a university setting.
  • Experience in a commercial bowling facility.
  • Experience using and maintaining bowling equipment and tools.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

  • Skills to maintain and analyze financial data and adhere to budgets.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and clients both on and off campus
  • Knowledge of computer information systems and video games, their use, maintenance and trends.
