Under the general direction of the Controller, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for project management and coordination, roadmap evaluation and communication, systems testing, and cutover strategies. The position is a dynamic role at the forefront of strategic partnerships and business systems development. The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate in cross-functional teams, coordinating with Financial Services, Payroll, HR, IT, and others. They will initiate and oversee work process changes and ensure documentation of business processes and procedures. The position applies advanced business analysis concepts to evaluate highly complex systems, defining scope and objectives based on a comprehensive understanding of business practices, processes, and industry standards. Operating at the highest technical level across various phases of systems analysis, they design, modify, and create technical specifications for systems with significant impact on large organizations. Additionally, they perform advanced analysis of business needs, translating them into system and process requirement specifications while providing support and training on new applications, and mentoring analysts when necessary.

 

This position is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed and ends two years from date of hire with the possibility of extension and/or career status, if funding permits. 

 

This position reports directly to the Oakland office location. Our current policy supports a hybrid work model, which may require occasional travel to our Davis location.

 

Pay Scale: $95,300/year to $136,700/year

35%

Applies advanced business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate and define highly complex systems scope and objectives based on advanced knowledge of applicable business practices, processes and systems, and industry standards to meet end-user needs. Works at the highest technical level of various phases of systems analysis. Considers the business implications of applying technology to the current and future business environment

30%

Initiates, designs, or modifies highly complex systems and procedures where standardized policies or procedures may or may not exist. Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact at a campus/medical center/Office of the President, or within a large organization. Develops unit integration and acceptance testing plans and scenarios. May lead cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.

Initiates, facilitates, implements, and documents work process changes. Prepares and approves or obtains approval for business process and procedural documentation. Initiates and oversees changes in processes and procedures. Sets the technical requirements for complex specifications.

15%

Performs highly complex analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system and process requirement specifications. Provides advanced support and training on new applications. May mentor experienced Business Systems Analysts.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions,
  • Demonstrated experience with project planning, process analysis, systems analysis, process architecture, and systems analysis methodologies and practices.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing demands.
  • Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization.
  • Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification, and implementation.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with personnel at various levels in the organization. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel throughout the organization. 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of the organization's financial systems. 
  • Professional certification and Master's degree in related area.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.
